Kimbrian Bergh
I was trained in South Africa, and upon graduation from school joined PACT ballet as Corps de Ballet. I became a Principal dancer within 6 years and had the privilege of dancing principal and soloist roles in every major classical ballet of the 20th Century, and over 40 one-act ballets. I have been personally trained in roles by Patricia Neary (Balanchine), Dawn Weller (Bayadere), Janek Schergen (Unknown Territory, Configurations) Colin Peasley (Merry Widow), Kenneth Greve (Hamlet), Ronnie Hynd (La Fille Mal Gardee and Rosalinda), and many more. In 2001, I founded (along with my peers) South African Ballet Theatre and here I was a director, Ballet master and Principal dancer. In New Zealand, I have taught classical ballet to Footnote Dance Company, Michael Parmenter's "Commotion", Evolution Dance in Australia and the New Zealand School of Dance. I still dance professionally at least once a year internationally, to keep in shape and practice performance; I have danced on stages across the world from Australia to South Africa and Paris to Denmark. I currently teach ballet technique to Year 1, 2 and 3 students in the BPSA Contemporary Dance, Unitec Institute of Technology. |
